Maria M. Buitrago, DPM

Dr. Buitrago is board certified in foot surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Dr. Buitrago received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida and her Master of Science degree from Barry University in Miami, Florida where she also received her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine. While at Barry she was on the Dean’s list and was a recipient of the Dean’s Merit Scholarship for Academic Excellence. She completed a three year foot and ankle residency program at the Houston Podiatric Foundation in Houston, Texas. She has also completed training in microvascular surgery at The Microsurgical Training Center, Plastic Surgery Service at Christus St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas, and has received special training in the endoscopic plantar fasciotomy, the endoscopic decompression of intermetatarsal nerve and diabetic nerve decompressions. She started practicing in 2002.

She is very active in the community and state. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Texas Podiatric Medical Association and is in line to becoming President in two years. She is the chair of the Public Relations Committee and sits on the Continuing Medical Education (CME) committee. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of Extremity Nerve Surgeons and will serve as President of the association 2019-2021. She also sits on the board of the Texas Podiatric Medical Foundation where she participates in medical missions every year. She volunteers locally at the San Jose Clinic and Healthcare for the Homeless Shelter in downtown Houston. She served as president for the Harris County Podiatric Medical Society in 2006-07 and has served as secretary from 2009-present. She is a surgical attending for the Christus St. Joseph Surgical Residency Program, the West Houston Residency program and the Kingwood Surgical Residency Program in Houston TX. She has served as chief of the Podiatry section for the Chevron Houston Marathon since 2010. Dr. Buitrago is an avid runner and enjoys running marathons. She is an accomplished podiatric surgeon, who is dedicated to bringing her patients the most advanced techniques in a gentle, caring manner. Dr. Buitrago was featured locally on “Great Day Houston” the Debra Duncan morning show and nationally on the Spanish television program “Primer Impacto” on Univision.

Marcela Orellana Galvez, DPM

Dr. Orellana Galvez grew up in Houston and completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology from UH. She received her Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Western University of Health Sciences in California.

Dr. Orellana Galvez competed her residency training at the University of Californian Los Angeles. Through residency, she received a well-rounded clinical and surgical training in foot and ankle pathologies. She trained in various healthcare setting including academic institutions like UCLA, county healthcare system at Olive View- UCLA Medical Center, the veteran’s hospital at VA Greater Los Angeles, as well as the Kaiser Permanente system.

Her interests include delivering healthcare to underserved populations, diabetic foot care, wound care, limb salvage, trauma, and sports medicine. She believes in a collaborative approach between doctor and patient to formulate a treatment plan. She enjoys taking time to educate patients and answering questions about their foot and ankle conditions. In her free time, Dr. Orellana Galvez enjoys many hobbies including traveling, cooking, and watching classic films.
